However, I do not believe that someone who is traumatized is better off with a healthy, stable partner. Reason is 1) this would be a sort of rescuer-victim relationship which is all about the healthy partner being patient and understanding, and these types of relationships tend to be unequal sooner or later, with the rescuer feeling hers/his needs not being met. 2) we are all traumatized in one way or another, and the importance of understanding, and ability to put oneself in the other persons shoes, is a key feature in any intimate relationship. I also don't believe that as a traumatized child you have no ability to heal. Often the 'dysfunctional' relationship is where both partners can become aware of their own wounds, and awareness is the first step toward healing. Mutual therapy as the article suggests I think is fine. <br/><br/>
